And The Winners Are....................

I am one of those people that likes to know about what is the best of something.  My inspiration for today's blog was learning what the most dependable cars are for 2012.  I consulted J.D. Power and Associates for the following information.  These are their top picks for dependability for 2012.  I will only list the smaller vehicles, as that is what most consumers purchase.

Sub-Compact                          Compact Crossover/SUV            Compact
Toyota Yaris $14,115               Chevrolet Equinox $23,530          Toyota Pruis $15,115
Scion xD $16,075                    Honda CR-V  $22.495                 Toyota Corolla $16,130
Honda Fit $15,325                  Toyota RAV-4  $22,650               Hyundai Elantra $16,695

Compact MPV                            Compact Sporty                      Midsize
Scion xB $17,030                         Scion tC  $19,305                     Ford Fusion $20,705
Chevrolet HHR  $18,720          Mini Cooper  $19,500                Mitsubishi Galant $21,899
Mazda 5  $19,625                    Volkswagen GT1  $23,995         Toyota Camry $21,995

I will say that I was a little surprised that a few American cars made it on this list.  But then again with the help that Ford received from the government, they should have placed more!  I will say it's no surprise that Toyota placed more vehicles in this group than the others.  The Pruis has ranked highest for 5 years in a row.

What exactly was J.D. Power looking at?  Well to be exact I am not sure.  I could not really find specifics.   In short though, they considered the powertrain dependability, the body and interior dependability and the feature and accessory dependability.

***The prices above only reflect a base model.  In some instances this means a manual transmission.  For bigger vehicles that I have not listed please consult http://www.jdpower.com./

What about you, do you think their assessments are correct?  Do you hold in value in a company such as this?
