Is Your Car Incognito?

Incognito is:
having one's identity concealed, as under an assumed name, especially to avoid notice or formal attentions.

Are you wondering where I am going with this?  Okay me too.  No just kidding.  What I am talking about are cars that are made by one manufacturer but yet labeled with another brand.  To be honest I am not sure how long this has gone on the car industry.  I do know that since the car industry is not quite as profitable as it once was, this typically applies to vehicles a little older.  While this idea is well known to some, it is not common knowledge to all.

I will bring 5 examples of cars that are almost identical but yet all different brands.

 Example 1:  (2005) GMC YUKON $36.045
                                 CHEVROLET TAHOE $35,195 ***
                                 CADILLAC ESCALADE $53,850

Example 2:  (2008) FORD ESCAPE 18,104 ***
                                MERCURY MARINER $21,136

Example 3:  (2005) FORD EXPLORER $27,165 ***
                                MERCURY MOUNTAINEER $30,035
LINCOLN AVIATOR $40,635 (this does have a bigger engine)

Example 4:  (2008 FORD EXPEDITION $31,345 ***
                                 LINCOLN NAVIGATOR $48,745

Example 5:  (2007) TOYOTA MATRIX $15,410 ***
                                PONTIAC VIBE $16,760

I have starred the cars in each example that was the cheapest.   Now I am not endorsing any particular vehicle or saying that the cheapest one is the better buy.  I am simply pointing out that these cars are for the most part the same.  It's truly the packaging that makes these cars different.  I would say that for some of these cars that's some pretty expensive packaging!!!
