With Summer approaching car thefts will be on the rise.  I will give you some tips at the end of this to keep your car safer.  Here are the top 10 most stolen vehicles as reported by insurance companies for 2012.

10.  Nissan Maxima 

9.   Hummer H2:  This one is fairly obvious.     

8.  Dodge Charger:  thieves love the powerful engine with the hemi

7.  Chrysler 300

6.  GMC Yukon

5.  Chevrolet Silverado:  manufacturers were slow to putting in security systems on the new models and most people like to leave valuables out in open in the bed.

3.  Chevrolet Avalanche

2.  Ford F-Series 4WD

As you can see there are a lot of trucks here.  That being said here are some tips to keep your car safe this summer.

Do not keep your keys in the car or hidden on the car anywhere.

Hide all valuables out of sight, or better yet, take them with you.

Try to park in a garage or somewhere where there tend to be a lot of lights.

Having a security system is not a bad idea either.
